Matthew Sweet brings ‘Girlfriend’ to Chicago in October

Yes, Matthew Sweet is releasing a new album next month. And he is giving away a free song off the new record.
But Sweet’s high-water mark will always be the 1991 pop masterpiece Girlfriend. The good news: He will play the album for two shows at the Bottom Lounge October 13-14.

Why do you point out he is aging? Isn’t everyone, including Elvis Costello and Pete Townshend? The two records after Girlfriend were superb also, and almost all his stuff is high quality. Rock on, age on
