William Shatner: Rocket Man

With the new Star Trek movie tearing up the box office, I’m paying tribute today to the original Captain Kirk, William Shatner, and his contribution to pop music culture.

Here’s Shatner’s legendary rendition of “Rocket Man,” performed at a 1978 science fiction awards show.

The Family Guy’s Stewie payed homage. I think he really nailed it, including the dance number.

Did Stewie ever do a version of Shatner’s version of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds?

Ha! I couldn’t find Shatner’s LSD version. And there aren’t many Leonard Nimoy music videos, but I did find this mashup with Bad Brain’s “Pay To Cum.”
