LCD, Modest Mouse are no Pitchfork slouches
I’m still giddy about Pavement headlining Sunday night at this year’s Pitchfork fest. But I have to say that the other headliners are pretty good, too. Modest Mouse plays Friday night and LCD Soundsystem plays Saturday. The festival runs July 16-18 again in Chicago’s Union Park.
I’ve not seen James Murphy in a venue bigger than the Metro. So, I’m eager to see him as a festival headliner. The guy puts on an amazing show. Conversely, when I saw Modest Mouse play one of the mega stages at Lollapalooza three years ago, I remember thinking how much better it would be in a smaller setting.
Neither Murphy’s LCD or Modest Mouse have released a full album since 2007. Murphy is working on a new one and he told NME.com last month that it will be his last as LCD. This year will also be the last LCD tour.
Of course, this is just the beginning of lineup announcements for the festival. In past years, some of the best acts at Pitchfork are those early Saturday performances.
