Tristen aims for new sound on sophomore album

Tristen’s debut album, Charlatans at the Garden Gate, was one of my favorite albums of 2011. I love the cross between pop and alt country. Judging by her single from an upcoming album, No One’s Gonna Know, the country influence is getting the boot in favor of a synth-pop sound. It’s a completely different vibe. Her second album, the self-released Caves, is out in October.

“At first I wanted to make a dance record,” she says in her press material. “I wanted to challenge the acoustic reverence of (the) Americana music world and I wanted to piss off the old folkies.”
